Great Ormond Street Hospital, Wetherby School, Gary Linekar.
June 2009
Gary Lineker teamed up with Wetherby School, a member
of the Alpha Plus Group, on a project involving over 13,000 Premiership football
cards for children at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Gary Lineker is Patron
of Great Ormond Street Hospital's Tick Tock Club - an appeal seeking to raise
L10 million towards a new Children's Kidney Centre and to fund vital research.
The Wetherby boys, aged between 4 and 8, organised the collection of the cards and spent one of their Saturdays at Wetherby compiling them into books for the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The boy who initiated this project, Konrad
Tillman said:
“I saw a boy wearing a Chelsea strip on the Great Ormond Street Hospital
website and thought about how much children there might like to have football
cards. I told my Headmaster (Mark Snell) my idea and he told the whole
school. We all love the cards and sharing them seemed like a good idea”
Gary Lineker said:
“It’s great that the boys at Wetherby managed to collect so many cards
which I am sure the kids in the hospital will enjoy.”
The project was supported by Henry Ts Entertainment, a charitable
organisation which seeks to empower young people.
