Shadows of Light
(Music from the Seagram Murals)
Monday 26 January 2009
Jim Aitchison is a composer with a particular interest in the intersection between visual art and music. He works with some of the world's
leading visual artists at prestigious venues in Europe and the USA.
In August 2008, the Tate commissioned Mr. Aitchison, with generous support from Henry Tillman, Jill Bradford and the PRS Foundation for
New Music, to respond to the 2008/2009 Rothko exhibition at the Tate Modern. The music was performed by the Kreutzer Quartet, one of
Europe's leading chamber ensembles, with world renowned horn player, Michael Thompson, and featured the remarkable voice of
countertenor Nicholas Clapton.
